Zusammenfassung: | Outlined is a theory of quantifier types that postulates that quantified expressions can be of three types, whose properties are derived through application of a modified version of binding theory. It is shown that some quantifiers have anaphoric variables, others act somewhat like names, & a third group has some properties of both. In order to develop a theory to account for this finding, a modification of government & binding theory is proposed to extend the notion of binding to X-binding, & the definition of accessibility is expanded. 20 References.
