Zusammenfassung:Some features of the highly successful literacy movements of the past are still likely to be attractive to Indiana American communities: adult participation, the absence of formalism, adaptability to both sacred and secular purposes, and lack of control by any White educational institution. To get a native literacy movement started, however, one probably needs, in addition to all this, a collaborator with the propensities of Sequoyah's six-year-old daughter.
