Variables treated include stage, manner, modality, environment, & age of second-lang acquisition, language specific & ethnic factors, & cognitive style. Clinical data from polyglot aphasia are also analyzed. An emerging picture of the neuropsychology of bilingualism & second-lang performance is presented & contributing cerebral mechanisms & abilities are discussed.
