Zusammenfassung:1. 1. Extracellular fluid in Physalia physalis occurs chiefly in the gastrovascular cavity. In Aurelia aurita it permeates the loosely organized mesoglea. 2. 2. P. physalis gastrovascular fluid tends to be constant in composition from animal to animal regardless of size, season or nutritive state. 3. 3. Although the amino acid composition of the extracellular fluid proteins in the two animals is qualitatively similar, there are pronounced quantitative differences. 4. 4. P. physalis fluids contain from 200 to 500 times more amino acids/ml than do those of A. aurita.
