Zusammenfassung:The manifest dreams of 44 normal pregnant women clearly represent the impact of pregnancy. The dreams were rated for masochistic and hostile elements, but these elements were found nonpredictive of adaptation to the maternal role. However, those women judged to have greater ego strength and to be most adequate in adapting to their current life situation had significantly fewer masochistic elements in their dreams.
