Zusammenfassung:This review outlines the extant literature on pandemic flu planning including previous public health and planning studies/reports, the state of ongoing planning and public health efforts, and identified gaps in those efforts. We found varying levels of response both nationally and internationally. The planning and public health literatures frame the problem as a public health issue, largely addressed by public health professionals and agencies at the state level. We posit that planners and planning bodies have an important coordinative role in prioritizing/allocating resources and in the facilitation of feedback mechanisms for improving the planning for and mitigation of outbreaks.
