Zusammenfassung: | Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is a heterogeneous disorder which involves both genetic and environmental factors. Among the environmental factors, viral and milk proteins have been suggested as important risk factors for triggering the disease. Among genetic factors, more than 20 loci have been identied in the susceptibility for T1D. Pineda-Trujilo et al report progress on ne mapping of a novel locus on 2p25, which was initially identied in a large family with T1D from Antioquia, Colombia. |
