Detection of IBV QX in commercial broiler flocks in the UK

[...]during June 2009, investigation of an episode of increased mortality and respiratory signs in a commercial housed broiler flock in the east of England resulted in the detection of the European IBV QX genotype following initial IBV real-time RT-PCR testing at the Veterinary Laboratories Agency (VLA) - Penrith laboratory of oropharyngeal swab samples collected from affected 34-day-old broiler chickens. Kidney and/or tracheal swab samples from affected broiler chickens were submitted to VLA - Penrith for testing for IBV by real-time RT-PCR.
