Zusammenfassung:A large amount of water and solute exchange occurs across the placental membranes. The permeability to creatinine and urea of the chorioamnion in vitro was investigated. The membrane was found to be significantly less permeable to creatinine than to urea. The possible significance of this in relation to the steady-state tonicity of amniotic fluid is discussed.
