Zusammenfassung: | In your April issue under Experience and Reason is a case described as "an unusual complication of retrograde pyelography; neuromuscular blockade." The article then goes on to describe the procedure of retrograde cystography carried out in perhaps a standard fashion with resulting filling of the upper urinary tracts under considerable distention due to failure of the ureterovesicle valve. The media used contained Neomycin, a known neuromuscular blockading agent. In the process of carrying out the cystogram, apparently rupture of the fornices of one of the kidneys took place, the dye then extravasating into the extraperitoneal tissues. |
