Consultation with Police on Human Relations Training

As consultants to the Los Angeles Police Department, the authors designed and developed a human relations training program for new recruits and officers returning to the police academy for further in-service training. Special emphasis is given to relations between the police and minority groups. family crisis intervention, and dealing with personal stress. The most effective training modalities have been those in which individual participation is greatest, especially small group discussions led by an outstanding fellow officer of the same rank as the participants.
