Zusammenfassung:	A patient with complete heart block secondary to bacterial endocarditis is described. Marked histopathologic destruction of the atrioventricular conduction tissue was clearly demonstrated by microscopic sectioning. We believe this to be the first case of complete heart block caused by a myocardial abscess due to Streptococcus viridans.
