Zusammenfassung: | RBI rat sarcoma cells, producing virus pathogenic for chickens, induced sarcomas in hamsters. These sarcomas were designated RBH. A double heteroinduction, i.e., chicken-rat, rat-hamster, took place. The RBH tumor was transplantable in hamsters. RBH hamster sarcoma cells and virus preparations isolated from them induced sarcomas in chickens. The logarithms of ID50 values were from 1.9–3.7. RBH cells adapted to growth in tissue culture, termed RBHtc, also were transplantable in hamsters. RBHtc cells continuously released a virus infectious to chickens. The chromosomal investigation of RBH and RBHtc cells indicated their hamster origin. |
