Ultrastructure of Cocal, Indiana, and New Jersey serotypes of vesicular stomatitis virus

The ultrastructure of Cocal, Indiana, and New Jersey serotypes of the vesicular stomatitis virus group were compared. No obvious differences in the morphological structure except slight dimensional variations could be found. The electron microscopic investigation revealed that the vesicular stomatitis virus particles consist of an outer looped helix, an inner beaded helix, which probably represents the capsid with the capsomers, and a solid main and central core.
