Zusammenfassung: | An introduction to the echo-sounding principle and to certain basic properties of ultrasound is given, the knowledge of which is necessary for understanding the application of the ultrasound echo method to the diagnosis of heart disease. The working principle of the apparatus used in such investigations is described as well as different methods for recording movements of heart structures (ultrasound-cardiogram) together with other cardiac parameters such as the electrocardiogram. The relative merits of the different recording methods are discussed. |
