Zusammenfassung:	The author discusses the value of diagnostic lymphography to the surgeon and emphasizes the limitations of the procedure. The author concludes that the examination is of little use in the routine investigation of early malignancy. The method has been of value in the management of advanced malignancy. Other uses include the investigation of lesions of the thoracic duct, differentiation of primary from secondary lymphoedema, chyluria and other rare diseases.
