Experiments in the brazilane series—I : The preparation of 2-phenyl-5′,6′,7-trimethoxybrazilane

Superposition of flavan on brazilane would afford 2-phenyl-brazilane. Although this structure has not yet been isolated, biogenetically it is feasible. The synthesis of 2-phenyl-5′,6′,7-trimethoxy-brazilane is described.
