Zusammenfassung:Five infants critically ill with IRDS were treated with acetylcholine. Three of them died. The Pa CO 2 and pH were not favorably affected by the drug in any of the 5 infants and the Pa O 2 either remained unchanged or fell. These observations suggest that the course of fully developed IRDS is not altered by acetylcholine, and use of this drug in these circumstances may even be harmful.
