Zusammenfassung:	Some substituted 8-chloro-3,4-dihydro-6-phenyl-1,5 benzodiazocin-2-ones, which are structurally related to the anti- anxiety agent diazepam, have been synthesized and their central nervous system properties evaluated. Activity was observed for compounds bearing a methyl substituent at position one which was of a lower order of magnitude than that shown by diazepam.
