Zusammenfassung:Summary Early and late problems related to femoral artery cannulation for extracorporeal circulation led to the investigation of the technique of passing an arterial catheter into the proximal aortic arch. From our experience with 15 patients, it has proved satisfactory, being most useful in patients with arterial disease in the ileofemoral region.
