Zusammenfassung:A case of periodic neutropenia in which the patient was treated with large doses of testosterone before and after splenectomy is reported. Testosterone therapy before splenectomy caused subjective and objective improvement. Splenectomy alone failed to alleviate the patient's symptoms or to alter the cyclic neutropenia. Retreatment with testosterone again abolished the patient's symptoms and ameliorated the cyclic neutropenia. The effect of testosterone on the marrow granulocytic reserve is discussed.
