Zusammenfassung: | Nuclear projections in polymorphonuclear neutrophils from patients with 13-15 trisomy syndrome have been previously reported as distinctive of this syndrome. A study of peripheral blood smears from neonates showed [See Fig 2. in Source Pdf.] projections to be present both in a patient with 13-15 trisomy and in normal controls. While the percentage of neutrophils containing projections and the number of projections per neutrophil were greater in the trisomy case than in the controls, the difference was not striking. These findings suggest that the presence of nuclear projections in neutrophils is not of practical value in the diagnosis of the 13-15 trisomy syndrome in the neonatal period. |
