Zusammenfassung: | A most unusual case of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage due to erosion of a vessel within the pancreas by a calculus is presented. Blood reached the gastrointestinal tract through the pancreatic duct system. A hematoma formed within the head of the pancreas and apparently exerted sufficient pressure to cause distention of a normal gallbladder. The literature concerning gastrointestinal bleeding associated with pancreatic calcification is briefly discussed and the operative treatment to control this type of bleeding is described. |
