Zusammenfassung: | The child who presents with arthritis may have an uncommon complication of a more common underlying disease. Hypertrophic osteoarthropathy, a syndrome characterized by clubbing, periostitis, and arthritis, is always associated in childhood with one of several chronic disease states. Pulmonary disorders have been supplanted by congenital heart disease as the most frequent underlying cause. The salient features of eight cases in children seen at this hospital are presented with a review of the world literature. |
