Zusammenfassung:This study examines Pacific direct investment flows into ASEAN, whose share in global flows has increased. The sources, sectoral recipients, determinants of, and benefits conferred by the flows, and their significance in overall capital formation are discussed. There is evidence to support the hypothesis that FDI has been an important stimulus to overall investment. The study also emphasizes the importance of institutional mechanisms rather than specific incentives in the absorption of FDI.
