Whose Ethnomusicology? Western Ethnomusicology and the Study of Asian Music

Ethnomusicologist Witzleben says that his encounters with Asians who study and respond to his discipline suggest the need for a reassessment of the nature of ethnomusicology and its suitability for both the study of Asian musics and the training of indigenous researchers in non-Western societies.
