Zusammenfassung: | Uses research findings based upon the reemployment experiences of laid off workers from the textile and apparel industries, to determine both if the unemployment experience is significantly different for textile and apparel industries relative to other industries, and to relate these findings to possible US adjustment costs resulting from trade liberalisation such as the phase out of the Multifibre Arrangement. Describes how the workers were identified, what information was obtained and how reemployment history was tracked, presents the main results of a time series study, and estimates these results for adjustment costs. |
