Zusammenfassung: | This paper presents a few of the estimates of the real value added of Canadian industries, as obtained through the application of a new deflation methodology. These estimates, which cover the period 1961-91, are compared with the standard estimates based on the double-deflation method. The results show that the estimates based on these alternative methodologies differ substantially, so that the choice between them is not a question of theoretical nicety, but does really matter. |
