Zusammenfassung:Serum sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, and osmotic pressure were measured at 0, 1, 3 and 5 hr after the ip injection of pure eel calcitonin (5 MRC U/head) into the normal calcemic Japanese eel ( Anguilla japonica) kept in fresh water. Calcitonin did not cause any significant changes in these serum parameters in the eels. Furthermore, eel calcitonin did not lower the serum calcium in the hypercalcemic eels.
