Zusammenfassung:THIS STUDY INVESTIGATED THE ENVIRONMENTAL ANTECEDENTS OF EXPECTANCY I AND EXPECTANCY II. EXPECTANCY II WAS FOUND TO BE RELATED STRONGLY TO SUPERVISORY VARIABLES, AND, TO A LESSER EXTENT, TO ORGANIZATION PRACTICES VARIABLES. EXPECTANCY I WAS MILDLY RELATED TO ORGANIZATION PRACTICES VARIABLES. INTERNAL CONTROL INDIVIDUALS HAD STRONGER EI AND EII PERCEPTIONS. EXPECTANCY I WAS THE EFFORT/PERFORMANCE BELIEF, AND EXPECTANCY II WAS THE PERFORMANCE/REWARD BELIEF. IMPLICATIONS FOR MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING ARE DISCUSSED. EXPECTANCY II PERCEPTIONS APPEAR TO BE SITUATIONALLY BASED AND THUS HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE INFLUENCED BY FACTORS WITHIN MANAGEMENT CONTROL. AN OPEN SYSTEM OF COMMUNICATIONS WOULD SEEM TO BE CONDUCIVE TO STRONG EXPECTANCY II PERCEPTIONS. EI APPEARS TO BE AN INDIVIDUALLY BASED VARIABLE. IT IS LESS CLEAR TO ANALYZE. TABLES. REFERENCES.
