Summary Acetaldehyde was found to be a product of the catabolism of deoxyinosine and deoxyribose-5-P in human erythrocyte ghosts. The simultaneous production of tri-osephosphates indicates the presence in erythrocytes of deoxyribosephosphate aldolase.
