Zusammenfassung:To determine the clinical effectiveness of commonly used impregnated gauze on the healing of donor sites, impregnated dressings (Vaseline, Scarlet Red, xeroform, and hydrophilic petrolatum) were compared to unimpregnated fine mesh gauze of identical weave and porosity. Rate and quality of healing were found to be virtually the same regardless of the dressing used. Plain fine mesh gauze continues to be the most effective, convenient, and inexpensive means of managing donor sites.
