Zusammenfassung: | Among a group of 190 patients (143 determinate) with tumors of the salivary glands, we observed the following:
1.
1. Patients with benign mixed tumors had (
a) a higher recurrence rate when the operation performed was excision or less (34 per cent) than when the operation was lobectomy (none); (
b) exhibited a more favorable prognosis when the tumor was of a purely or predominately epithelial type, as was true for eighteen of seventy-three followed patients. No such tumor recurred.
2.
2. The success of treatment for malignant tumors, regardless of location, depended principally on the type of tumor rather than on the treatment used. |
