Zusammenfassung:The relationship between left atrial pressure and volume was studied in 39 patients with valvular heart disease or idiopathic cardiomyopathy. Left atrial pressure and left atrial volume were correlated in patients with aortic stenosis or with idiopathic cardiomyopathy. Patients with mitral stenosis showed a correlation between pressure at the peak of the v-wave and maximum left atrial volume. No correlation between left atrial pressure and volume was found in patients with mitral insufficiency.
