Zusammenfassung: | The second report of Ewing's sarcomas occurring in siblings is documented. In this report, the first patient was a female child with a tumor in the left sixth rib; she was three years three months of age at onset of symptoms. She survived one year and three months. The second patient was sixteen years of age at onset of disease in the left fifth metatarsal (ten years and four months after the onset of her sister's illness). She is alive two years after onset of disease and six months after below the knee amputation (after ineffective control with radiation therapy and chemotherapy).
Although both this and the previously reported pair of siblings are female, Ewing's sarcoma, a very rare tumor, is generally twice as frequent in male patients as it is in female patients. |
