D- and l-Amphetamine differentially mediates self-stimulation in rat dorsal midbrain area

Intracranial self-stimulation (ICSS) response rates elicited from the dorsal noradrenergic bundle are enchanced by d-amphetamine but not by l-amphetamine, suggesting noradrenergic mediation. Both isomers equally enhance ICSS response rates elicited from the mid-ventral periaqueductal area (the oculo...

Zusammenfassung:Intracranial self-stimulation (ICSS) response rates elicited from the dorsal noradrenergic bundle are enchanced by d-amphetamine but not by l-amphetamine, suggesting noradrenergic mediation. Both isomers equally enhance ICSS response rates elicited from the mid-ventral periaqueductal area (the oculomotor nuclei, the interstitial nuclei, the dorsal raphe nuclei, and the medial longitudinal fasciculus), suggesting dopaminergic mediation.
