Zusammenfassung:ALPHA-METHYL meta -tyrosine (α-MMT) is of interest because it provides a means for assessing the functional significance of brain-amines (serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine). Administration of α-MMT results in a depletion of these substances; this phase of the action of the drug is followed by a differential rate of recovery of the amines. In particular, brain, levels of serotonin and dopamine are fully recovered in about 24 h, whereas levels of norepinephrine recover only after much longer periods of time 1,2 .
