The cell cycle specificity of the morphological conversion of chinese hamster ovary cells by N6,- O2′-dibutyryl cyclic adenosine 3′,5′-phosphate

Incubation of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells with N 6, O 2′-dibutyryl cyclic adenosine 3′,5′-phosphate (db-cAMP) causes the epithelial-like cells to assume a fibroblast-like morphology. We have analysed this morphological conversion in cells synchronized by the mitotic shake-off method. Here, we...

Zusammenfassung:Incubation of Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells with N 6, O 2′-dibutyryl cyclic adenosine 3′,5′-phosphate (db-cAMP) causes the epithelial-like cells to assume a fibroblast-like morphology. We have analysed this morphological conversion in cells synchronized by the mitotic shake-off method. Here, we report that only cells in the G I phase of the cell cycle initiate elongation when incubated with db-cAMP.
