The biosynthesis of asparagine in the etiolated soybean seedling: II. Conversion in vitro of glutamic acid and aspartic acid to asparagine
Formation of asparagine was shown when glutamic acid was added to homogenates of cotyledons, and when aspartic acid was added to homogenates of cotyledons adn seedling axes of soybean seedlings. Transaminase activity in extracts of seedlings at various stages of germination was determined, and some...

Zusammenfassung: | Formation of asparagine was shown when glutamic acid was added to homogenates of cotyledons, and when aspartic acid was added to homogenates of cotyledons adn seedling axes of soybean seedlings. Transaminase activity in extracts of seedlings at various stages of germination was determined, and some properties of the enzyme were studied. Synthesis of asparagine through transamination reaction was postulated. |
