Zusammenfassung: | Four strains of Coxiella burnetii were isolated from the blood of a woodrat (Neotoma cinerea cinerea) and from the spleen tissues of 2 golden-mantled ground squirrels (Citellus lateralis tes-corum) and 1 chipmunk (Eutamias amoenus), all of which were trapped or shot in the Bitterroot valley of western Montana. These isolates differed from avirulent rodent strains previously isolated in this country because they were highly pathogenic and infective for guinea pigs and white Swiss mice. |
