Zusammenfassung:The indications for and the results of 446 amniographies have been reviewed. The procedure was found to be simple, safe, and highly accurate in the diagnosis of certain types of pregnancy abnormalities. While in some diagnostic problems, such as intrauterine fetal death, fetal malformations, and hydatidiform mole, the method appeared superior to its alternatives; in others, including placenta previa and evaluation of uterine scars after previous cesarean section, its usefulness appears to depend on careful assessment of the clinical situation and the availability of possible alternative technics.
