Zusammenfassung:Pea ribosomes have been claimed to synthesize proteins in vitro in milligram quantities. Under analogous conditions using the varieties of pea and bean listed below soluble proteins do appear, but they arise as a loss from the particulate fraction. Net increase in protein was not found. Incubation at 37 °C. damages some of this protein but the RNase present in the system destroys the majority of the ribosomal RNA. These results suggest that such conditions are not favorable for protein synthesis.
