Zusammenfassung:N-methyl-α-methyl-tryptamine is an inhibitor of monoamine oxidase (MAO) in vivo, as well as a tryptamine antagonist. At relatively low doses it enhances the effects of tryptamine by virtue of its inhibitory activity on MAO. This action is reversed at relatively high doses presumably because it competes with tryptamine for activation of receptor sites.
