Zusammenfassung:Individual cells in cultures of FL, monkey kidney, and primary human amnion cells inoculated with Brunhilde poliovirus or Coxsackie virus A9 were cut into two portions, one purely cytoplasmic and one nuclear with some adhering cytoplasm, between 2 and 6 hours after inoculation. Poliovirus was found in both portions of the FL and monkey kidney cells; Coxsackie virus was similarly located in monkey kidney cells. In the primary human amnion cells bisected before 4 1 2 hours after inoculation, both poliovirus and Coxsackie virus were found only in the nuclear-cytoplasmic portion. They were subsequently found in both cell portions. These results indicate that cell types can differ either in the sites of initial maturation of virus or in its rate of dissemination throughout the cell.
