| Zusammenfassung: | A procedure based on standard methods of differential centrifugation is described in detail for the isolation of rat liver and kidney mitochondria. Mitochondria isolated under the conditions described retain their capacity for oxidative phosphorylation after prolonged storage at 4° and other procedures generally considered to be detrimental [cf. (2)]. The freshly isolated preparations are characterized by high respiratory control ratios with succinate as substrate, and a high rate of endogenous phosphorylation. |
