Zusammenfassung:The asynchronous replication of DNA in parts of chromosomes in the root tips of Tradescantia paludosa was found to occur. Generally, the terminal portions of the chromosome arms were found to continue DNA duplication near the end of the DNA synthetic period while other parts of the chromosomes had ceased to synthesize. The localization of the DNA synthesis to specific sites on the chromosomes was found to correspond to an overall decrease in synthesis per nucleus during that portion of the synthetic period.
