Zusammenfassung:The dialyzate of the blood of the squid Loligo pealii was analyzed quantitatively for its free organic constituents for comparison with the composition of the axoplasm of Loligo nerves previously determined. Somewhat unexpectedly all substances found in axoplasm, with the exception of the group of peptides, were found also in blood. However, the concentrations of organic anions, taurine, and betaine in axoplasm were fifty to a hundred times as high as in blood. The ratios of concentrations in axoplasm and blood showed no constancy or pattern presently interpretable in terms of function or structure.
