Inhibition of enzymic hydrolysis of plasma albumin by detergents

Digestion of bovine plasma albumin by either trypsin or chymotrypsin is markedly diminished by sodium octyl sulfate, yet enzymic hydrolysis of simple substances is hardly affected by this detergent. Zusammenfassung:Digestion of bovine plasma albumin by either trypsin or chymotrypsin is markedly diminished by sodium octyl sulfate, yet enzymic hydrolysis of simple substances is hardly affected by this detergent. Tryptic digestion of bovine albumin is similarly inhibited by sodium decyl and dodecyl sulfates, while digestion of α-globulin is nearly unaffected. Implications of the inhibition are discussed.
