Movement of triglycerides and monoglycerides across the intestine of Ascaris suum

1. 1. Sac preparations of the intestine of Ascaris suum were used for in vitro determinations relating to the movement of triglycerides (triacylglycerol) and monoglycerides (monoacylglycerol). 2. 2. Triglycerides are not hydrolyzed in the luminal solution of these preparations and their movement int...

Zusammenfassung:1. 1. Sac preparations of the intestine of Ascaris suum were used for in vitro determinations relating to the movement of triglycerides (triacylglycerol) and monoglycerides (monoacylglycerol). 2. 2. Triglycerides are not hydrolyzed in the luminal solution of these preparations and their movement into and across the intestine is limited. 3. 3. Monoglycerides are taken up by the intestine and hydrolyzed to free fatty acids which are subsequently incorporated into tissue glycerolipids and/or moved across the sac preparation.
