Characterization of a New Purine Riboside isolated from Fusarium Species

AN investigation of the acid-soluble nucleotides occurring in a Fusarium species 1 has shown that, in addition to a number of previously known compounds, several new ultra-violet absorbing substances are present in this mould. One of these was identified as the mononucleotide of nicotinic acid 2 , a compound which has also been isolated from baker's yeast 3 . The present communication reports the characterization of a second substance, an N 2 -substituted guanosine which is probably 2-(1-carboxyethylamino)-6-hydroxy-9-β- D -ribofuranosylpurine.
